New Quivers for 2011

Quivers have advanced from a simple necessity purchased without much forethought to a sleek accessory and significant part of today’s high-tech bows. Here’s a look at the top new Quivers for 2011 available to bowhunters in the marketplace.

Archer Xtreme Carbon Vapor quiver

If you’re looking for an innovative and unique quiver, check out the Archer Xtreme Carbon Vapor quiver ($269). This high-tech quiver, made of carbon, is molded into one piece that contains no bolts, metal, or plastic parts. With the Vapor quiver you don’t have to worry about parts coming loose, getting lost, or making noise. This quiver is 120 times stronger than metal and weighs a mere 6 oz. Simpler is often better, and the one-piece Vapor qualifies.

Bohning Archery Chameleon Quiver

The Chameleon Quiver ($48) from Bohning Archery is sure to be a hit with bowhunters who want the accessories on their bows to match. The hood on the Chameleon comes with two faceplates that can be snapped on and off quickly. Each faceplate is a different color or camo pattern. Extra faceplates, available in eight camouflage patterns, also can be purchased. The Chameleon Quiver is lighter than most, thanks to its high-impact ballistic polycarbonate stem that’s as tough as metal. It has a built-in hook for easy hanging and an arrow-locking feature that secures your expensive shafts in place. The Chameleon is available in three or five-arrow models.

G5 Outdoors Mag-Loc Halo 6

G5 Outdoors is always on the cutting edge of innovation, and this year is no exception. The Mag-Loc Quiver ($99.99) gets its name from the magnetic mounting system that attaches the quiver to the bracket on the bow without screws, levers, or buttons. The powerful magnets do the work, making this quiver easy to attach and detach. The Mag-Loc is constructed, in part, with magnesium that is light as a feather and tough as nails. Other features include a treestand mount that allows you to attach the quiver to a stand using the magnetic bracket. Zip ties are used on aluminum stands, and a tree mount can be screwed into a tree. The quiver has a noise-dampening rubber hood, Python Gripper, and angle adjustments that solve mounting issues with certain sights. The new Mag-Loc Halo 3 ($69.99) holds three arrows while the Halo 6 ($99.99) holds six arrows. Both are available in Lost Camo, Realtree AP, Max-1, and Black.

Kwikee Kwiver Kwik-3 SS

The Kwik-3 SS ($29) is a great featherlight quiver. Holding three arrows, it weighs just 5.6 oz., measures 12" long, and comes with Kwikee’s venerable quick-detach system that makes attaching the quiver to the bow easy. This quiver has been around a long time, for good reason, and can be purchased in a variety of camouflage patterns including Realtree, Lost Camo, and Mossy Oak.

Mathews ArrowWeb T-Series Quiver

Mathews fans will love the Mathews ArrowWeb T-Series Quiver ($130). The Lost Camo hood has the Mathews logo proudly displayed on the front, but the best feature of the ArrowWeb is the easy bow attachment system with the Spider Claw arm. The quiver snaps in and out of the Spider Claw without using bolts, screws, or levers. The spine is made of aluminum and the T-Series Quiver is available in three, five, and seven-arrow models. For 2011, the quiver can be purchased in Lost Camo or Carbon Black.

Octane Archery BantamWeight Quiver

The one-piece BantamWeight Quiver ($90) from Octane Archery has some unique features like the silent rubber arrow grippers that securely hold arrows and allow for one thumb removal of each arrow. The quiver has 6" of vertical and horizontal adjustment, and it can be used with almost any make or model of bow. A quick-detach system allows for one-handed removal, and the hood/gripper design holds arrows parallel, which makes for easier extraction, prevents the vanes from touching each other, and dampens vibration and noise. The four-arrow BantamWeight is lightweight and available in Realtree APG.

PSE X5 Infinity X-Force quiver

PSE X-Force fans will love the X5 Infinity X-Force quiver ($100). The machined-aluminum frame is lightweight and strong, and because it has no moving parts you don’t have to worry about unwanted noise and vibration. It comes with two mounting posts that make this quiver easy to take on and off any X-Force bow. Available in three or five-arrow versions, the quiver comes in Mossy Oak Break-Up Infinity or Black.

Rage Ghost Quiver

The Ghost Quiver ($110), by Rage Broadheads, is designed to accommodate Rage heads as well as other expandable broadheads. It’s called the Ghost Quiver because of the quietness of the over-molded hood. The interior of the hood has no foam but rather an aliphatic urethane interior that holds broadhead tips in place so they can’t deploy. The quiver mounts within 2" of the bow, making this low-profile quiver perfect for those who hunt with an attached quiver. A four-way detachable mount can be moved up or down, side to side, or angled left or right to accommodate other accessories and various arrow lengths. With dual arrow retainers, the Ghost Quiver holds five arrows. Color is Black.

TightSpot Quiver

The TightSpot Quiver ($153) is designed for bowhunters who want to shoot with their quiver attached to the bow. It has many unique features, including the ability to tighten individual grippers on the ArrowWedge Gripper. The first gripper positions the arrow facing the hunter so you can extract it quickly without having to turn the bow. The TightSpot Quiver is sleek, fits tightly against the bow, and has several adjustability features that allow you to move it up, down, forward, backward, and in or out as necessary. The integrated four-way absorption system eliminates vibration, and the hood is made of a space-age polymer to ensure durability. Constructed of aluminum and carbon rods, the TightSpot comes in Lost Camo, Realtree APG, and Matte Black finishes.

TruGlo TRU-TEC Quiver

The TRU-TEC Quiver ($87) from TruGlo left me wondering, Why didn’t I think of that? The standout feature is the optional built-in pushbutton light in the hood. We often fumble around with our quiver at night or first thing in the morning, trying to put an arrow into the quiver or pull one out, and end up making lots of noise or dropping an arrow. The TRU-TEC has a positive-lock mounting bracket for quick and easy one-handed removal from the bow. It’s made from lightweight aluminum, and the hood is coated in TRU-TOUCH — a soft, durable coating that eliminates contact noise. The TRU-TEC Quiver holds five arrows and is available in Black, Realtree APG, or Lost Camo.
