ATA 2018: Top New Trail Cameras

It's time for the 2018 ATA Show in downtown Indianapolis. And with the arrival of this year's bowhunting and archery party and show, there's a whole new crop of innovative trail cameras and accessories. Here's a glimpse of what we've seen so far!

As the 2018 ATA Show kicks off this week at the Indiana Convention Center, there's something of a tidal wave — frozen perhaps, given the weather expected by the show's end — of new trail cameras and accessories designed to help pattern game animals a little bit easier.

Here are a few such products that have caught our attention so far this week in Indy.

Browning Trail Cameras BTC-5HDX and BTC-6PXD

As this year's ATA Show begins, Browning Trail Cameras is up to its old tricks again with a couple of superb new models for 2018, the BTC-5HDX and the BTC-6PXD trail cameras. The BTC-5HDX brings an affordable, high quality sub-micro compact size unit (4.5x3.25x2.5 inches) to market with 16-megapixel images and 720p True HD video with sound. Add in the unit's innovative adjustable Quick Trigger settings (ranging from .4 to .7 seconds) and a 100-foot flash range with Zero Blur Technology and nighttime images are a snap. With battery meter functioning utilizing either alkaline or lithium batteries, the unit runs for a long, long time on just 6 AA batteries.

A step above is Browning's BTC-6PXD, another sub-micro compact unit that uses a cutting-edge Dual-Lens Technology that dedicates one lens for daytime images and videos and another for nighttime images and video! With an amazingly fast .15 second trigger speed and a .4 second picture recovery time, this unit delivers 24-megapixel images and 1080p True HD video with sound in both daylight and nighttime settings. The latter is thanks to Browning's Invisible Adjustable IR Flash – with two options, one long range, the other power saving) - which reaches out to 80 feet. Bushnell Impulse Cellular Trail Camera

Thanks to Bushnell taking its scouting-camera abilities to new levels, with the Impulse Cellular Trail Camera, hunters are now able to get connected faster utilizing this no-contact camera. Bushnell has put dual processors to work in the Impulse simultaneously, meaning that the camera can take one photo every second. Add in the ability to sort photos by wind and weather, a GPS anti-theft alert, and live camera views to your Smartphone, and there's much to like about the new Bushnell offering. With 20-megapixel resolution, 1080p HD video, and six-month battery life, you simply set the camera up, leave it, and start observing from afar what's living on your hunting ground! Cuddeback Black Flash and Long Range IR

Longtime trail camera maker Cuddeback brings two great new products to Indy in 2018, the CuddeLink Black Flash and CuddeLink Long Range IR cameras. The Black Flash unit utilizes ¼ second trigger speed, super-fast recovery speed (the unit is ready for the next photo one second later), superb daylight color and nighttime imaging ability, and a premium grade sensor to deliver 20-megapixel images.

 

Likewise, the Long Range IR offers the same great Cuddeback features and dependability in image ranges out to 100-feet, not to mention many of the same customizable features that the Black Flash and other units offer. Spartan GoCam 4G/LTE

What's new in 2018 about Spartan GoCam's 4G/LTE model? Now it works with Verizon's LTE in Rural America (LRA) Program! That means that the cellular wireless scouting cameras will be able to send images and videos of big bucks in real-time from the wilds of Alaska to the hollers of Kentucky to the…well, I think you get the picture. Or you will in the 15 states involved in the program where 21 rural wireless carriers participate in the program, that is!
