The legendary Fred Bear, the godfather of modern bowhunting in so many ways, was a man ahead of his times as he helped turn the pastime of bowhunting from a sleepy backwoods way of hunting whitetails and big-game animals into the mainstream pursuit that it is today.
Now more than 90 years down the road since Bear founded his namesake company way back in 1933, the legendary hall of fame bowhunter — who passed away in 1988 at the age of 86 — started his company with the goal of making archery accessible to everyone.
As Bear Archery launches its new 2025 lineup this week, suffice it to say that they’ve taken another step forward in the modern bowhunting game, offering another wide range of compound bows that will help just about anyone find the sport accessible, whether they want a feature laden bow that won’t break the bank or a top-flight model with all of the company’s design features and technological advancements packed into a flagship model.
Whatever your goals are in the sport of bowhunting and archery this year and beyond, from winning form on the 3D target range to winning a friendly backyard competition to tagging the biggest buck or bull in the woods, the new lineup from the company that Fred Bear started is sure to get you to the finish line.

Gamekeeper JR Bear Gamekeeper JR Last but not least in the 2025 Bear Archery new bows lineup is the company's Gamekeeper JR, another collaboration with Mossy Oak Gamekeeper that aims to give a young bowhunter the same game getting possibilities that mom, dad, or a big brother and sister have in the deer woods.
With a 27-inch axle-to-axle length, a brace height of 6 inches, 5- to 50-pound draw weight possibilities and 12- to 27-inch draw length options that can grow with a young archer through time, this bow also comes with 75-percent letoff.
The bottom line here — or is that the Bottomland line? — is that this is a big league bow model designed to fit the increasing needs of a young, conservation and wildlife management minded bowhunter that looks forward to an early start in bowhunting and a lifetime of pursuing critters the same way that the late, great Fred Bear once did.
Add in a Mossy Oak Bottomland finish (RH/LH) and the Bear Archery RTH accessory package of Trophy Ridge products — including a 3-pin sight for this bow model, a Whisker Biscuit arrow rest, a 5-arrow quiver, a stabilizer and sling, and a peep sight and d-loop — and this bow design is tailor made for young archers looking for a bowhunting gateway into the autumn woods.
And like the other Bear Archery 2025 models noted above, the Gamekeeper JR delivers a wealth of technology and features from one of the bowhunting industry's leading innovators, all at a wallet friendly price that will leave a little extra money in the bank account when an exited phone call to the local taxidermist shop is necessary this fall!
