Bow Review: Elite EnKore

A bow designed to keep shooters coming back for more.

Bow Review: Elite EnKore

The Elite EnKore offers multiple customization and tuning options, making it easy for archers to achieve a setup that results in maximum shooting comfort and accuracy.

Elite Archery has invested heavily in the overall experience of those who choose to spend their hard-earned money on one of the company’s bows.

The cornerstone of that experience is “shootability," which the company calls the hallmark trait of its bows.

The new EnKore is designed to demonstrate Elite’s focus on shootability with its ASYM Tri-Track cam system and Versa Performance Mod, wide-stance BulletProof limbs and S.E.T. tuning technology built into the StabiLock limb pockets. Dual Riser Cages enhance stiffness and performance, while the Precision Grip offers functionality and comfort. Meanwhile, the LTR Roller cable-management system offers adjustable tension to help archers dial in a perfect tune.

Versatile Engine

Elite’s machined aluminum ASYM Tri-Track cam system is largely responsible for the EnKore’s performance and adjustability. Not only is it designed to hold the line on the company’s focus on shootability, but it's also the engine behind the advertised IBO speed rating of up to 340 fps with 80 percent letoff. The EnKore’s dual cams ride on stainless steel bearings and offer a letoff range of 70-90 percent via adjustable cable and limb stops. The cams’ Versa Mods also offer an adjustable draw-length range from 23-30 inches. No bow press is needed for adjustments to draw length or letoff, and the Versa Mod system makes it easy for shooters to customize the feel of the valley and back wall to their personal liking. Each cam is anchored to a cable on each side to produce a laterally balanced load that provides stability throughout the draw cycle. This design prevents cam lean and enhances accuracy.

Ready S.E.T. Go

Proper alignment between bow limbs and riser is critical to accurate performance, and Elite accomplishes this with its StabiLock limb pockets with S.E.T. Technology. The BulletProof split limbs measure approximately 11.5 inches long and are outfitted with VibeX blocks to reduce shot noise and vibration.

StabiLock limb pockets consist of a two-piece system built to host Elite’s Simplified Exact Tuning (S.E.T.) Technology — a micro-adjustable tuning system based at the limb pocket that ultimately impacts the “attitude” of the cam.

Cages, LTR and a Famous Grip

As the originator of the Riser Cage, it is not surprising Elite chose to outfit the EnKore with Dual Riser Cages. These riser-based structures provide enhanced support in areas that have been identified to flex/twist more. The result is a stiffer, more stable shooting platform that promotes more consistent shooting and reduces vibration.

Elite’s Linear Tunable Roller (LTR) cable-management system provides yet another option for tuning through tension adjustment. It is set in the neutral position from the factory. However, if you experience a right nock tear or need more vane clearance, just add tension. Of course, you only need to remove tension to accomplish the opposite.

Elite has long been known for its grips that use a combination of size, angle and shape to achieve excellent ergonomics. The Precision Grip features a neutral wrist position and is machined directly into the riser handle and includes wood side plates.

Impressions

With its Precision Grip, Elite has found the right balance of shape, angle and size to provide comfort for your hand and consistent hand placement for repeatable accuracy. The draw cycle was firm but consistent, with no harsh transitions, while the bow balanced well on the target. At the shot, it proved quiet and exhibited only a mild jump in the handle and low-level vibration. Adding a quality stabilizer eliminated any trace of vibration and lessened the already minimal kick.

I like the adjustability provided by the Versa Mod, LTR and S.E.T. Technology, and I took time to walk through each and watched them do their jobs as advertised.
