Bowtech Unveils 2020 Revolt & Revolt X

Following up on a successful campaign with the Realm SR6 and Realm SS, Bowtech returns with two more flagship rigs.

Last week, Bowtech officially announced two new hunting bows for the 2020 model year. The Revolt and Revolt X bring a number of Bowtech innovations to bear in two exciting options, each with something the bowhunting public is sure to love.

First off, let’s talk about what sets each bow apart. The Revolt measures 30 inches axle to axle and sports a brace height of 7.25 inches. The bow weighs 4.4 pounds and produces an advertised IBO speed of 335 fps. The Revolt’s big brother, the Revolt X, measures 33 inches between the axles and features a brace height of 6.5 inches. The Revolt X is only slightly heavier than the Revolt, coming in at 4.5 pounds, and produces an advertised IBO speed of 340 fps.

Next, the shared characteristics: Both the Revolt and Revolt X can be had with a max draw weight of 50, 60 or 70 pounds, have adjustable draw lengths of 26-31 inches and are equipped with Bowtech’s Clutch Performance Grip system, which features interchangeable grips of different colors and profiles. The bows also come in a variety of colors and camo patterns, including Mossy Oak Brown Country Roots, Realtree Edge and Optifade Elevated II.

Finally, the new tech: The Revolt and Revolt X are the first hunting-specific bows to feature Bowtech’s revolutionary DeadLock Cam system, which makes tuning them incredibly easy. First introduced in mid-2019 with Bowtech’s Reckoning hybrid target/hunting bow, the DeadLock Cam System allows the shooter to move the cams themselves in order to get a perfect paper tear. Simply loosen the red locks on the right side of each cam with an Allen wrench, then use the wrench to dial the cams right or left as needed. When a proper center shot is achieved, simply tighten the locks again — it’s that easy. No need to throw the bow on a press, twist strings or even leave the range; you can ensure your bow is shooting straight in no time flat.

Other cutting-edge features include DeadLock Pockets for solid limb attachment and DeadLock Cable Containment for reduced torque and added forgiveness.

I had great success this year with a Bowtech Realm SR6, taking my best buck to date with it a few weeks before word of the Revolt and Revolt X reached us at the Petersen’s Bowhunting office. As a result, I wasn’t sure about switching to the Revolt X midseason. I’m so glad I did; Bowtech seems to have taken all of the things I like about the SR6 — speed, super-smooth draw, solid back wall, FlipDisc technology with Comfort and Performance settings — and improved on them, creating an even more enjoyable shooting experience with the Revolt X. I actually filled a doe tag the first day I took it into the field, having to hold for a solid minute at full draw when she turned head-on. The Revolt X was more than up to the task when the deer finally turned broadside.

In short, the Revolt and Revolt X are everything you’d expect — and a lot more — from a company obsessed with accuracy. Bowhunters who are looking for a great all-around bow need look no further.
