Carbon Express Maxima Series

Carbon Express Maxima Series

by Daniel Beraldo

For 2011, Carbon Express (CX) has introduced its new Maxima series, which includes the redesigned Maxima Hunter, new Kevlar layered Maxima Hunter KV, the precision Maxima Blue Streak and the straightest of them all, the Maxima Blue Streak Select. Designed to make today's high-energy bows shoot better, all four shafts feature CX's Dual Spine Weight Forward system. This unique construction combines two spines in one arrow and mates a stiffer yet lighter back section with a heavier and more forgiving front end. The back section is designed to soak up energy and harness it for quicker arrow recovery, increased speeds and tighter arrow groups, while the front helps guide the arrow.

This system helps eliminate energy wasted on the initial arrow launch and helps flatten initial trajectory. Spine sorted to 1„10,000 of an inch -- promising your dozen arrows will fly and tune exactly the same -- Maxima arrows are also laser checked to a straightness of 1„10,000 of an inch. Features on Maxima shafts include the nock-protecting BullDog Nock Collar, BuffTuff and BuffTuff Plus carbon layers for added durability and quiet draws, and for the Blue Streak shafts, CX's Diamond Weave construction adding the best in stiffness and spine consistency.

Maxima specs are: Maxima Hunter (250/8 gpi, 350/8.9 gpi, 450/9.7 gpi) and Maxima Hunter KV (250/8.9 gpi, 350/9.8 gpi), .0025-inch straightness/1-grain weight tolerance; Maxima Blue Streak (150/6.5 gpi, 250/7.4 gpi, 350/8.3 gpi), .0025-inch straightness/1-grain weight tolerance; and the Maxima Blue Streak Select (250/7.4 gpi, 350/8.3 gpi), .001-inch straightness/1-grain weight tolerance. As mentioned above, the Maxima Hunter KV includes a layer of Kevlar advertised to be, pound for pound, five times stronger than steel. I know from experience that Maxima shafts can take a pounding, tune perfectly and -- thanks to Weight Forward Technology -- are ideal for bowhunting. MSRP: $80-$200 per dozen -- Daniel Beraldo
