Field Tested: Micro Food Plots Master Series Cultipacker

When it comes to setting up your deer herd for future success, few investments make more of an impact — or more sense — than food plots.

When it comes to boosting your odds of bowhunting success, few investments will pay bigger dividends than food plots. In exchange for a relatively modest investment of time, money and effort, you can create a prime destination for bagging bucks while providing valuable nutrition for the entire deer herd in your hunting area.

Of course, having the right tools for the job makes creating successful plots easier, and for working-class bowhunters without access to commercial-grade farm implements, there is perhaps no tool better than the Master Series Cultipacker from Micro Food Plots ($4,699; microfoodplots.com). Designed to be used in tandem with any 500cc or larger ATV or UTV, this compact, all-in-one unit provides everything you need to create perfect plots from start to finish.

The Master Series Cultipacker features a 40-inch, 12-blade, heavy-duty disc for working the soil, an Accu-Seed electric seed box with adjustable gate for sowing seeds of all sizes, a 40-inch drag rake to cover your seed after planting and a 40-inch rolling cultipacker to ensure proper seed-to-soil contact for maximum germination.

The made-in-the-USA unit attaches to an ATV or UTV via a 1 7/8-inch ball hitch. It weighs 640 pounds, measures 48 inches wide and 68 inches long. It also features heavy-duty tires that are raised and lowered via a built-in electric lift that can be operated off the ATV/UTV 12-volt battery. The wheels are not only used while towing the unit to and from the planting area but also to control the depth of the discs during operation. A wired control unit for the wheels and seed box is included with the unit.

We recently used the Micro Food Plots Master Series Cultipacker to install a half-acre food plot at one of our favorite hunting locations. Check out the accompanying video to see how quickly and easily the unit allowed us to create a great-looking plot that is sure to be a very productive stand location this fall.
