In 2009, Moultrie introduced its Game Management System at the annual Archery Trade Association Show. I sat and listened to a presentation on all the benefits this high-tech system had to offer. To make a long story short, the system uses cell phone technology to let hunters review their trail camera photos and change camera settings from any Internet connection. I left there thinking to myself, "It seems like a cool system, but it's probably much more difficult and complicated than they make it out to be." Well, last fall, I was given an opportunity to put the system to the test, and boy was I wrong!
With whitetail hunts planned in Iowa, Illinois and my home state of Colorado, I had a Game Spy camera and cellular modem posted in each hunting area by late September. After completing an easy, online account setup, photos from all three states started rolling in. From my personal access website, I was easily able to review and organize photos, adjust camera settings and choose whether I wanted to receive photos immediately or in batches only at a certain time of day.

For the entire month of October, I anxiously waited daily e-mails from the Moultrie site informing me new photos had been taken and were ready for viewing. Nothing builds anticipation like seeing bucks in front of your stands, in three different states, without ever leaving your office chair!
The highlight of my experience with this system came when the 200-plus-inch monster you see pictured walked by the camera in front of my stand just an hour before daylight. I never did see that buck, but knowing he was there before heading out that morning made climbing into that stand an experience like none I've ever had. What a way to scout!
