Field Logic IQ Bowsight

Field Logic IQ Bowsight

As editor of BOWHUNTING, I am constantly asked to evaluate new products. Though many are good, very few stand out in the crowd. Keep that in mind when I tell you the new IQ Bowsight from Field Logic is revolutionary in its ability to make you a better shooter -- even without a peep sight. What makes the IQ unique is the small lens in the top of the sight housing.

//

Fiber optics illuminate a green dot inside this lens. At full draw, you can ensure picture-perfect shooting form simply by centering this green dot behind a small black dot pained on the lens itself. If you move your anchor point up or down, or torque the bow left or right, the dot will move out of alignment -- automatically alerting you to a flaw in your form before the arrow is released.

This is critical, since just a quarter inch of left/right bow torque or high/low anchoring will put you five inches off target at 20 yards and more than 10 inches off at 40 yards. Field Logic calls this system Retina Lock Alignment Technology. I put an IQ Bowsight on my BowTech Admiral and used the sight's windage and elevation adjustment dials to center the green alignment dot while looking through my peep sight at full draw.

I then sighted in pins for 20, 30 and 40 yards. After shooting several dozen arrows, I removed my peep and started shooting using only Retina Lock Alignment Technology to ensure proper grip and anchor point. I was easily able to place five-arrow groups into a deer vitals target. Shooting without the peep offered a wider field of view and eliminated any concerns about peep rotation or the ability to see in low-light conditions.

I also like the fact I can quickly glance at the alignment dot throughout the shot cycle. This could prove particularly useful during awkward hunting shots. The IQ Bowsight features four-axis adjustability and, because it uses no batteries, is Pope and Young legal. With or without a peep, the IQ will keep your form sharp and help extend your effective range. MSRP: $200 (4-pin model) or $220 (7-pin model).
