New Archery Products Apache Rest

New Archery Products Apache Rest

For 2010, NAP introduces what, in my opinion, is their best hunting rest yet. Designed specifically for hunting and bull's-eye accuracy, the new Apache combines a full-containment housing with a drop-away launcher. Forget about your arrows bouncing off your arrow rest launchers; the Apache incorporates a circular housing around the wider than average launcher that eliminates the possibility for an arrow to fall off during any portion of the draw cycle.

This circular housing also includes a sound dampening pad on the inside, which ensures your arrows don't contact metal or make any game-spooking noise. Featuring all-metal construction, the Apache is ruggedly built yet extremely simple to tune and adjust. Requiring no tools to tune, laser etched horizontal and vertical graduation marks makes setup lighting fast. Laser etchings are almost mandatory on toolless designs, as they provide a quick reference to proper setup.

If for any reason your adjustment knobs were to come loose, knowing exactly where the windage and elevation should be set could save you some valuable time and potentially save your hunt. I don't see them coming loose. However, it would be wise to check tightness regularly. Bowhunters will also appreciate the pre-installed silencing felt on the launcher.

Felt is ideal for quieting the draw whether shooting carbon or aluminum shafts. It's a must-have when hunting and dealing with wary animals. Setting up the Apache was quick and easy. Its drop-away tether needs to be connected to the downward moving cable and, thanks to a slick tether feed system close to the launcher, it was easily adjustable so the launcher dropped at the perfect time.

A couple minor adjustments were needed to get my arrows flying the way I like, and within 20 minutes, I was pounding the vitals on my Rinehart Goat all the way out to 50 yards. MSRP: $60
