Vital Gear's Ben Afshari Vital Pro

Vital Gear's Ben Afshari Vital Pro

With bows pumping out speeds at or above 300 feet per second with hunting arrow/broadhead setups, the rests bowhunters use must be lightning fast, hold arrows securely and provide the guidance necessary for downrange accuracy. Vital Gear's Ben Afshari unveiled the Vital Pro arrow rest in 2009, which features a unique arrow capture system and can use a compression spring or extension spring for drop-away activation.

Featuring Ben's Torsion Spring system, the American-made Vital Pro is truly unique when used with the compression spring. The Pro's drop-away tether gets connected above the cable guard rod to the power cable and relies on the upward movement of this cable (not springs) for the rest to drop down and out of the arrow's flight path. At rest, the drop-away tether is pulled tight and served to the cable above the cable guard rod. The rest is in the down position, holding the arrow 360 degrees.

Once the bow is drawn, the arrow capture arms open up, the tether moves down with the cable and goes slack, causing the launcher to rotate up, lifting the arrow into shooting position. Upon release, the tether moves up and pulls tight, forcing the launcher to drop out of the way within the last seven inches of arrow travel. On the range, the Vital Pro proved easy to set up horizontally and vertically, accurate (tested to 30 yards) and quiet at the shot -- no loud, game-spooking noises.

The Vital Pro can also be set up similar to most drop-away rests with the optional extension spring, which requires the tether to be connected to a downward moving cable. Vital Gear's Vital Pro is available in different models; Vital Pro (Black), Vital Pro Camo, Forest Vital Pro (Mathews bows) and a universal Vital Pro (fits all bows).
