Tink's was a pioneer in whitetail scent lures, and for 2010, the company is jumping into scent-elimination with Tink's Vanish Odor Eliminator. Vanish is based on patented Byotrol Technology, developed to control bacteria in hospitals and food factories. Tink's says Byotrol is proven to eliminate more than 300 odor-causing compounds, including body odors, food odors and smoke.
Vanish products are also said to offer hours of extended protection by preventing new odors from adhering to your skin, clothing and gear. To test the Vanish claims, BOWHUNTING conducted tests using onions and cigarette smoke. For the first test, I took a slice of white onion, rubbed it on the back of both my hands and let the onion juice dry. I then doused one hand with Vanish Odor Eliminator Spray and let it dry. Smell tests with three co-workers indicate Vanish eliminated roughly 90 percent of the onion smell compared to the untreated side.

Vanish fared even better in the smoke test. I used two identical, freshly laundered hunting shirts and had someone smoke five cigarettes while wearing one of them. I then presented both shirts to three co-workers, all of whom easily identified the smoky shirt. I then sprayed both shirts with Vanish and hung them overnight to dry. The next morning, I again presented both shirts to my co-workers.
This time, none of them could smell the smoke. In fact, when pressed to identify which shirt had been smoked in, two of three participants picked the wrong shirt! Other Vanish products include hair and body soap, laundry detergent, field wipes and hand sanitizer foam. MSRP: $11.99 for a 16-ounce bottle.
