Designed to stop the forward motion of the bowstring, the String Tamer allows the string to stop at its natural resting point. What exactly does that mean for the archery hunter? First, you get a quieter shot that results in less string jumping and ultimately more game in the freezer. Second, hand shock and string slapping is reduced. This helps increase accuracy and helps to provide the archer with a consistent follow through shot after shot. Since the String Tamer effectively does the job of popular string silencers that you see on most hunting bows today, dampening shock and noise, an archer now can remove those and take off some of the weight on the string. This will help to increase the arrow speed in feet per second. Also, the extra speed earned is a result of the fact that no energy is removed as the string rebounds to its resting position, thus more energy is directed into the arrow. You won't get a huge boost but a little is better than nothing. The String Tamer is easy to install thanks to a 5⁄8-inch mounting screw. To adjust, simply loosen the 5⁄64-inch Allen wrench screw and slide the unit so it is flush to the string. This string stopping system is growing more and more popular each year as more manufacturers introduce new designs.
