New Covert Line Features Binos and Thermal Optics

Designed with bowhunters in mind, Covert has unveiled an exciting array of products for 2022.

Bowhunters looking for high-quality optics at a solid price have a brand-new option as FeraDyne Outdoors has just rolled out its new Covert Optics line, designed with a strong focus on archery hunting. The initial offerings include two binocular options, as well as a thermal rangefinder, handheld scanner and more.

Binoculars

Available in 8x42 and 10x42 options, Covert Optics’ binoculars are designed to offer superior light transmission, clarity and glare reduction. The bullet-proof body construction and extra low dispersion (ED) optics combine to create a waterproof and fog-proof binocular system that delivers exceptional field performance in a compact design.

Hunters can expect high-contrast, super-sharp imagery and vivid color — no matter the light conditions — thanks to the BAK-4 lens system. The Diamond Bright multi-coating improves light transmission, reduces glare and enhances scratch resistance. Other bino highlights include an ergonomic design for a comfortable fit and feel, and a diopter dial that allows for super-easy focusing. The 8x42 binos check in at 5.35x5x2.2 inches and weigh 23.5 ounces, while the 10x42s measure 5.35x5x2.2 inches and weigh 24 ounces. MSRP: $499.99 each

ThermX TRF

Billed by FeraDyne as the world’s first thermal rangefinder, the ThermX TRF detects anything with a heat signature out to 1,600 yards and can be operated as either a hand-held unit or mounted to a bow or crossbow to serve as a thermal sight (where legal). Powered by a Lepton 3.5 micro core sensor with 160x120 sensor resolution, with a 9hz frame rate, the ThermX TRF quickly displays images and offers a wide range of functionality, reticle options and palette and brightness choices to accommodate different lighting and temperature situations. Imagery and aim points are viewed via the 1.5-inch color OLED display, which features a 160x128 resolution. Other highlights include an easy-to-use control system for navigating the rangefinder’s features and options, an integrated visual laser to help with windage and elevation adjustments for precision zeroing, and a 7-degree narrow field of view to enhance target acquisition.

At only 3.4x 3.25x1.5 inches and weighing just 7 ounces, this rangefinder is lightweight and compact, yet its solid construction yields a water-proof and shockproof unit that easily withstands heavy use in the field. The TRF’s sophisticated technology allows it to accommodate a wide variety of weapons and projectile speeds, and the rangefinder attaches easily to bow or crossbow via Covert Optics’ mounting system (sold separately). ThermX HS1

An affordable yet feature-rich handheld thermal scanner, the ThermX HS1 is designed to aid in game recovery, detecting predators on nighttime hunts and even serving as a potential scouting tool, when and where legal (For example, scanning the field as you wrap up your hunt in the evening or you’re heading to your stand in the morning to avoid spooking deer).

Like the ThermX TRF, the HS1 is powered by a Lepton 3.5 micro core sensor with 160x120 sensor resolution and features a 1.5-inch color OLED display, as well as various palette and brightness options (color modes are white-hot, black-hot, green and multicolor). A simple, three-button control system provides easy navigation of the many features and options, all displayed on the OLED display.

As far as scanning, the ThermX HS1 offers a 14-degree medium field of view, providing exceptional versatility while optimizing detection and observation of animals. The scanner checks in at 4.3x2x1.5 inches and weighs only 4.3 ounces, allowing it to quickly and easily slide into your jacket pocket or your pack/bag.

The unit is powered by a CR123 battery that comes with the scanner. MSRP: $999.99

In addition to the thermal scanner and rangefinder, Covert Optics will also be releasing a thermal scope, the ThermX TS1, later this spring. As with the HS1 and TRF, the scope will feature the Lepton 3.5 micro core sensor with a 9hz frame rate and a 1.5-inch OLED color display (1000x800 resolution). Other highlights include 3-8x optical magnification, multiple programmable reticles, 2x digital zoom and more. MSRP: $2,499.99

The Form is the world's first hybrid carbon/aluminum bow, essentially aiming to place the right materials in the right places. In other words, Prime created a lighter, stiffer rig by placing both carbon rods and aluminum exactly where it needs to be. This method increased overall stiffness by 47.5 percent, while decreasing weight to just 4.1 ounces — the lightest bow Prime has ever taken to market.

That includes the 2025 Persist 33, the company's flagship model for the new year — an extension of the popular 2024 Persist. The new model is a bit longer at 33 inches axle-to-axle, shoots 340 fps, and has draw-length adjustments from 26.5 to 30.5 inches. Draw-weight options are from 45-60 pounds or 55-70 pounds, and the the Persist 33 is available in four different finishes — Stone, Olive, Mossy Oak Bottomland and Mossy Oak Roots.
