Women's Bow Review: Diamond Carbon Knockout

Women's Bow Review: Diamond Carbon Knockout

Years ago, when I decided to trade in my rifle for a bow, my dad bought me a Diamond Razor Edge. As a new archer, I was able to crank the draw weight down well below the bowhunting minimum until I grew comfortable and developed the strength to ramp it back up.

Just a couple months later, I took my first whitetail with that bow and several more over the next few years. At a great value, it was the perfect rig for a new bowhunter and performed well season after season.

Now, Diamond is offering that same affordable quality in a dedicated women's bow —  the Carbon Knockout.

2018 Diamond Carbon Knockout

The Carbon Knockout features Diamond's Synchronized Binary Cam System, which eliminates vertical nock travel, maximizes accuracy and provides easy tuning. Slightly smaller than the standard system, the cams of the Carbon Knockout produce shorter draw lengths and greater efficiency for the compact rig. The bow is adjustable for draw lengths from 22.5-27 inches, and a rotating module allows for easy adjusting without any extra cams or modules.

An aerospace-engineered carbon riser provides maximum strength while maintaining minimal weight. At just 3.2 pounds and 30 inches axle to axle, the Carbon Knockout is one of the lightest women's bows on the market.

Peak draw weights of 40, 50 and 60 pounds are available with an 80-percent letoff. And with a 6.75-inch brace height, the Carbon Knockout delivers speeds of up to 302 fps.

The Total Package

The Carbon Knockout is a R.A.K. (Ready, Aim and Kill) Equipped Package featuring an Octane Hostage Max rest, Octane Deadlock Lite quiver, R.A.K. custom sight, Octane 5-inch Ultra-Lite Stabilizer, comfort wrist sling carbon peep and BCY string loop.

A price tag of $749 makes the Carbon Knockout an affordable option for any huntress. "The bow is a gorgeous powerhouse with innovations specifically designed for the female shooter, making it a perfect fit for everyone from the beginner to the avid archer," said Todd Snader, brand manager for Diamond.

Put to the Test

This R.A.K. package is ideal for the female bowhunter who doesn't want to spend hours getting set up in a pro shop. I was able to grab my Carbon Knockout for the first time, make a couple minor adjustments and start shooting tight groups in no time.

I loved the compact size of this rig. Even with all the accessories in place, the bow felt lightweight yet solid. After a slight bump at letoff, the Carbon Knockout delivered a smooth, quiet shot.

With the growing number of women entering the bowhunting world and tackling the learning curve on their own, Diamond answered the call for a dedicated women's bow that provides simple setup yet robust performance at an affordable price. And they knocked this one out of the park.

Diamond's technology makes setup and tweaks simple, but the company also provides how-to videos and other resources online  — which are especially helpful for new archers.

The Carbon Knockout is available in Micro-Carbon or Mossy Oak Break Up Country, featuring electric blue cams and accents on both color options. Visit Diamond's website to learn more.
