Long known for its quality arrow shafts, Carbon Tech debuts in our bow review with a new line of three bows. At the top is the CT Phantom ($1,300), which features carbon limbs and an all-carbon riser except for stainless steel accessory inserts. The CT Phantom weighs just 3.25 lbs., but light weight is not the only advantage afforded by carbon construction. Carbon reduces both amplitude and duration of vibration, analogous to the comparison between carbon and aluminum arrows. This bow is 34" long with a brace height of 8", but the CT Hybrid Cam System still puts out 315 fps. The plan at Carbon Tech was not to focus on speed but to build a strong, durable bow for both field and range.
Carbon Tech's other two bows are the CT Pursuit ($600), a carbon copy (sorry) of the CT Phantom except with an aluminum riser; and the CT Lightning ($500), an aluminum-riser bow that's 32" long with a 7.5" brace height and a bit more arrow speed. All three bows can be fitted with the LD Cam to achieve a 31" draw length.
