For the price, the Rebel 8x32 ($130) roof-prism binocular is an amazing piece of glass. This model, or the Rebel 10x42, would be a great starting place to teach novice hunters the art of glassing, without worrying too much about loss or damage. It's also perfect for leaving in the truck console to quickly check out some deer or turkeys on your way home from work.
Honestly, accustomed to using the finest optics available, I'm spoiled. I have never looked through a binocular that cost less than $200 without getting eye fatigue -- until I peered through a Redfield Rebel! I just bought one as a birthday gift for my son.
