Top Quivers And Arrow Cases For Bowhunters

Top Quivers And Arrow Cases For Bowhunters

Modern quivers are light, adjustable, durable, and safe. In short, they're better than ever.

You can buy the best arrows on the market, but they'll do you no good if they're not hunt-ready at all times. The latest crop of quivers and arrow boxes ensure that you'll get your arrows to the field in good condition and that you'll have them at your fingertips for efficient hunting. Here are some of the best new arrow-transport systems to keep you in the game.

Athens Archery
If, like many bowhunters, you prefer to detach your quiver once you're settled into a treestand, you'll like the new Zen Quiver ($130) from Athens Archery, which makes the process a lot easier through a built-in screw hanger, which not only screws the quiver securely to the tree but also provides a handy bow hanger as well. Constructed of aircraft-grade aluminum, the Zen weighs only 11.2 oz. It's available in four and six-arrow models, as well as two finish options -- Next Vista Camouflage or futuristic-looking Black Carbon Fiber. Bohning Archery
The Lynx quiver is not new, but for 2010 you can buy it in pink to show your support for Breast Cancer Awareness. The lightweight Lynx 4 ($38) weighs 6 oz. while the Lynx 6 ($42) weighs 8 oz. Both hold fixed or mechanical heads while protecting fingers from broadhead blades with a retainer bar and hood cutaway. If you're afraid to haul a pink quiver into the woods for fear it will spook game animals, rest assured Bohning integrates the color into a camouflage scheme for subtlety.

Field Logic
Few broadheads have garnered a more loyal following than Field Logic's Rage, and now devout Rage shooters have a quiver option designed specifically for their favorite hunting heads -- the Ghost Quiver ($100). Features include a transparent window on the hood to view broadheads, a 2mm-thick rubberized interior that secures just the tips of the broadheads to keep blades sharp, and a new proprietary Coffin Lock cam system that allows for one-hand removal and attachment of the quiver. The multipositional mounting Ghost weighs only 9 oz. and adds no more than 2" of width to a bow to make torque a nonissue.

Fuse Archery
It's pretty clear that Fuse designed the Ventera One Piece ($119) with hardcore bowhunters in mind. The unique hood and adjustable double shaft grippers hold arrows securely with absolutely no broadhead contact, making the Ventera ideal for mechanical broadheads. In addition, the EPT quick-mount system ensures easy, quick removal. If the taller one-piece Ventera isn't your thing, check the Ventera Lite ($51), Ventera Shorty ($99), and Ventera Two Piece ($109), which cover the range of personal preferences.

G5 Outdoors
Given the broad range of bow lengths, G5 designed a versatile quiver line to fit most bows. The Mag-Loc Riser ($99) mounts at the top riser mount, and the Mag-Loc Compact ($65) mounts in the standard sight-mount holes. The most bowhunter-friendly feature on G5's new quivers is the unique magnetic mounting system. I personally found this system to be ultraquiet and easy to use, even with one hand. Other notable features include the Python Grip Compression 5-Arrow Gripper, a pro-grade magnesium stem design for durability and minimal weight, and a noise-dampening rubber hood.

Hoyt
If you prefer a tough one-piece quiver, check out Hoyt's new Quick-Detach Quiver ($99), which li

ves up to its name through a Lever-Lock mounting system that holds the quiver securely but promotes fast detachment when necessary. If you lean toward a two-piece model, you'll like Hoyt's Duralite Two-Piece Quiver. Both quivers are available in four and six-arrow models that will work with carbon or aluminum arrows. Finish options are Realtree APG camouflage or Blackout.

Kwikee Kwiver
To accommodate short axle-to-axle bows, Kwikee Kwiver introduced the Combo Quiver Kit ($35), which comprises a lightweight four-arrow quiver and the HR-II, an extension plate that allows you to mount the quiver almost 4" higher than conventional mounts. The HR-II also lets you mount the quiver in a tipped position or vertically, depending on bow model and personal preference. The Combo Quiver Kit also includes Mathews' Harmonic Damper for vibration and noise control, a quick-release bracket, and combo arrow grips.

Mathews
The slick-looking ArrowWeb FP Series Two Piece Quiver ($119-$129) owes its appearance partly to the Lost Camo pattern and partly to the machined aluminum construction. It fights unwanted vibration through a Harmonic Damper, accommodates both fixed and expandable broadheads through the use of a foam insert, and is available in five or seven-arrow configurations.

New Dawn Outdoors
The unique VORTXX 6 ($50) owns a rotating locking mechanism that stows arrows securely in a space-saving cylindrical pattern and then turns easily to release one arrow at a time. The Silent Touch quiver hood and Silent Guard quiver frame eliminate unwanted noise as you're sneaking through the woods or climbing into your stand. Four and five-arrow configurations are available along with several popular camo patterns.

Octane
The top-mount Bantamweight Quiver ($90) adjusts to fit just about any bow in relation to overall length, angle, and centerline balance. The design of the four-arrow Bantamweight cuts down on bulk and mass weight, and the quiver sits close to the bow to reduce torque. A pre-cut, closed-cell foam insert keeps broadheads sharp and inhibits corrosion. And a unique design lets you silently remove an arrow from a gripper with a press of your thumb.

For use on short axle-to-axle bows, the Vertex features an extended arrow clip that positions nocks above the lower cam to keep them out of the dirt and rocks. Camo pattern is Mossy Oak Treestand.

Tightspot
The TightSpot Quiver ($153) fits as close to the bow as possible to improve balance and reduce unintended canting of the bow. Holding five arrows, the TightSpot features a new QuadFit four-way spacer that gives you four distance mounting options in relation to the cable guard to fine-tune the balance of your bow. The low-profile hood, built deep enough to fully enclose even the largest broadheads, is made from a durable polymer to stand up to the rigors of hard-core bowhunting.

The rubber hood on the Arrow Cage 1 ($90) not only dampens noise bu

t also accommodates both fixed-blade and mechanical broadheads through the employment of a removable foam insert. New for 2010 is the black Arrow Cage 1, the perfect choice for use in ground blinds. A unique mounting system ensures quiet and easy attachment/detachment. Several mounting positions allow you to adjust the quiver to perfectly match the length of your bow. The quiver comes with a braided hang rope so you can remove the quiver and hang it within easy reach of your treestand. The Arrow Cage 2, a two-piece quiver, has many of the same features.

Sportsman's Outdoor Products
Traditional bowhunters have used back quivers for decades, but many modern bowhunters seem reluctant to try them out. A lot of those hunters might shed that reluctance if they strapped on Sportsman's Outdoor Products' new BAQ Quiver Deluxe ($107). Adjustable to cover varying arrow lengths, it can hold up to eight arrows, and a Flex Hood makes for easy arrow retrieval. Adjustable shoulder straps and belt assure a comfortable fit, and a removable five-compartment hood for gear storage completes the package.
